And we're kicking off the season with the prestigious Boodles May Festival Trials Day on Wednesday 7th May, a fixture that sees top owners and trainers unveil rising champions.
Why is this day renowned for it's thrilling racing? Let us fill you in!
You'll get to witness the running of The Cheshire Oaks, a trial for the Epsom Oaks for fillies and The Chester Vase, one of two trials run at the meeting for the Epsom Derby.
Now if that doesn't blow your socks off, we don't know what will.
A winner of the Cheshire Oaks in 2017, Enable became aChampion British Thoroughbred Racehorse, winning 15 of her 19 career races,including 11 Group Ones.
Success here on the Roodee, under the ride of FrankieDettori, was a magical moment to be cherished and was swiftly followed up byfranking that form in the Epsom Oaks.
She is quite rightly considered one of the greatest filliesin racing history.
Ruler of the World
Chester’s derby trial, the Chester Vase, proved a successfulpathway for the Aidan O’Brien-trained Ruler of the World in 2013. Having been ridden to success on the Roodee by Ryan Moore,the Irish Thoroughbred went on to win the Epsom Derby a month later.
Over the years the combination of O’Brien and Moore hasresulted in the most successes in the Chester Vase than any other.
